The phrase middle ages refers to the period of european history spanning 450-1450 CE.
The history of European music dates back to medieval times, marked by the end of the Roman Empire in 476 CE until the Christian reformation led by Marthen Luther in 1572 CE.
The development of European music has undergone many changes.
One of them expanded the function of music from being used only as an accompaniment to religious rituals to include all worldly matters, such as entertainment.
Guido D'Arezzo, one of the influential people in this history, made basic improvements to music theory and lyrics in 1050.
From his mindset, music developed further. One of the improvements that he managed to create was gregorian music. This music was later perfected by Paul Gregory.
